Victorian Sterling Silver Salver

An early Victorian sterling silver salver by Joseph Hodgson, hallmarked London 1840.  Shaped circular form with applied shell and gadroon border and scroll feet. Engraved with a coat of arms and motto "Esse Quam Videri" (To be, rather than to seem). 9 3⁄8" (23.8cm) diameter, 15.5ozt (483g).
