George III Sterling Silver Oval Salver
A George III sterling silver oval salver by William Bennett, hallmarked for London 1796. Oval with reed edge on four feet, engraved with the arms of the Tinten* family of St. Tudy, Cornwall and motto "Aut Nunquam Tentes Vel Perfice" (Either do not attempt, or complete). 14 1⁄4", (36.2cm), 30.4 troy oz (945g).
*Tinten Manor, in St Tudy was the birthplace of the Captain William Bligh (Mutiny on the Bounty).
