JH Tee Antiques is pleased to offer a fine selection of antique sterling silver vinaigrettes. A vinaigrette is decorative hinged box designed to hold a sponge soaked in vinegar or perfume beneath a pierced grill. The highly fragrant perfume was used as an antidote to unpleasant odours that were commonplace in the 18th and 19th century. Silver vinaigrettes were a status symbol at the time and have become very collectible. All of our vinaigrettes can be purchased online, or from our shop in Vancouver. You can click on the image of one of the vinaigrettes to see more photos and details.
