01591 - Birks Sterling Tea Service

A five piece sterling silver tea service by Henry Birks & Sons in the Melon pattern, fine quality and very heavy. Circular fluted bodies with double scroll spout, scroll handle, four shell feet and a floral finial. The teapot measures 12.25" from handle to spout and holds 6 cups (1.4l), total weight 118 troy oz.

This set was part of Birks' "Original Hallmarked" series (a series of high quality reproductions of georgian period English silver) and was copied from a set made in 1829.
