17th Century Augsburg Brandy Bowl

An early German silver brandy bowl, Augsburg c. 1690, maker's mark HB conjoined. Shaped oval with two scroll handles, the sides chased with scrolls and foliage the centre with a swan. Gilt interior and overlapping the exterior top edge. 6 1/8" x 5 7/8" (15.5cm x 15cm), weight 112g.

Note: a very similar 17th century Augsburg bowl with the same city and maker's marks (also chased with a bird) was sold at Christies Amsterdam on June 9 1994, in the description they refer to mark number 658 in Rosenberg's book for the maker.
