01852 - Geo III Sauce Tureen

A George III silver sauce tureen hallmarked London 1778 by John Wakelin & William Taylor. Stepped oval body on stepped pedestal base with domed lid and loop handles. Engraved with a family crest. 9 1/4" across the handles, 5 1/2" high, 20.4 troy oz.

John Wakelin, who later partnered with Robert Garrard was briefly appointed as Goldsmith and Jeweller to the king in 1797.
